Mohammed Arfan Asif
Mohammed Arfan Asif / Arfan, 58 years of age is a Hospital Pharmacist by profession and photoartist by passion. His photographic journey began in the mid – 80s in his native Bengaluru in India. He is a native of Bangalore in India and resident in Dubai for the past 30 years. For Arfan, photography is a passion and he strongly believes that it brings people together and makes them human. Arfan’s first acceptance was in 1989 and since then it has been an intense involvement in the art of photography. He loves to travel and his journeys to 27 countries has enriched him with great learnings, understanding and respect for cultures, traditions and people of diverse backgrounds.
Arfan has given talks, presented workshops, online lectures, judged International exhibitions/salons, featured in group exhibitions, curated 8 photography exhibitions and organized 3 International salons. He has been a prolific writer on photography topics and in the past was the columnist for ‘Photography Middle East’ and ‘Connector’ magazines. He is the Director of the Portrait Competition for Photographic Society of America (PSA), the 1st Vice Chair of the PSA PID Board, the Chapter Organizer of The Royal Photographic Society, the Country representative of ICS and the Mentor of Shutter Bugs Creative Forum which he founded in the year 2009. He has mentored more than 50 enthusiasts to achieve International distinctions from among his 100+ Shutterbugs in Dubai.
